As part of the application process, we need to know about your exam history, i.e. if you have (or are expecting) any exemptions, have already passed any actuarial exams or are currently studying for any actuarial exams. This is important as it affects the price and duration of your apprenticeship, as well as your Individual Learning Plan.

Exemptions:

  • At this stage, we’re looking for your best guess of which exemptions you expect to receive, and it is better to err on the side of fewer exemptions if you are unsure.  We can adjust in future if you get different exemptions to what you originally expected.

  • You can find further information about exemptions and what evidence is required on the IFoA website https://actuaries.org.uk/qualify/exam-exemptions/

  • Please note that, if you did not complete an IFoA accredited university course (or module), the only subjects you can apply for exemptions from are CB1, CB2 and CS1.
If you are unsure whether your course is accredited by the IFoA, you can find a list here https://actuaries.org.uk/qualify/exam-exemptions/university-courses-with-exemptions-route-a/. If you did complete an IFoA accredited university course, you will only receive exemptions for subjects where you scored sufficient marks in your exams – if you are unsure, please check with your university.
